This very special picture of Jayne was taken at the end of her mindfulness teacher training retreat, which was specially arranged with myself and Dr Patrizia Collard to enable access for Jayne. She was unable to attend a week-long retreat too far from home as she needed to be near her dialysis machine. I will always remember her joyful tears when I shared the news this was happening.
Jayne went on to share mindfulness widely, including through her books, and I had the pleasure of supporting her work for several years. I am deeply honored that Jayne has entrusted her legacy to me in taking forward the distribution of her books.

‘Little Frog and the Secret Magic’ is the book, as a psychotherapist and ex- children’s social worker, that I’ve always wanted to write – and paint. Every child and family who wants help with being well and happy should know what’s in this book! – Jayne Pigford
With illustrations on most of the 69 pages, it tells the story of Little Frog going on a journey to the big oak tree and meeting various informative characters – who share mindfulness tips or wisdom – along the way. Its uniqueness comes with the fact that it’s interspersed with fun exercises designed to help children (and adults!) identify, understand and manage our challenging human feelings. It really could be a life-changing book, bringing mindfulness – and our own bodies -to life in a joyous way.
If used in the classroom, this book could provide important talking points for a whole academic year, just as it could become a great asset and ‘awareness enhancer’ (and calming tool) – to any family or group… “And what would Little Frog/the Blue Bird say or do in this situation?…”

Are we moulded by our genes or experiences?
What makes us think and behave in the ways we do?
Is ‘the way it is’ inevitable or could we create a better world?
Jayne Pigford invites us to join her in an exploration of the human condition; do we, as she experienced on her death-bed, have a loving, peaceful core?
Sharing her personal experience of severe illness, close dances with death, childlessness, a repeatedly broken heart and her professional learning from attachment theory, positive psychology and neuroscience, Jayne reveals how we’re ‘wired to connect’ and act kindly.
Ultimately this book gives us hope for humanity and through Jayne’s own brand of humour, makes a friend of dastardly Death along the way!
Some of the proceeds from ‘Rocking with the Reaper’ are going to renal charities, including renal wards at Nottingham City Hospital where Jayne was cared for. Most money can be made if you buy direct from us here.
