8 week course Incorporating Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

The 8 week course involves learning to meditate in small, informal groups, sharing our experience of this process, which is often fun! CDs are then provided to help people continue to practice for around 30 minutes a day. We also learn more about the nature of our thoughts and feelings and how to respond to situations, reducing the impact of stress. Course notes and diagrams are provided.
Benefits of Meditation An expert meditator, Matthieu Ricard, has been described as the happiest man on the planet, following research measuring the effect of meditation on his brain. He recently highlighted that as little as 20 minutes of daily practice can contribute significantly to a reduction of anxiety and stress, the tendency to become angry and the risk of relapse in cases of severe depression.’
Anybody who wants to learn to deal better with stress and the challenges that life throws up. Healthcare workers wanting to bring greater stability to their emotions, enabling them to look after themselves and respond better to their patients.
More specifically, the course can help people deal with difficulties such as: Long term pain or illness Anxiety Depression Insomnia Stressful relationships at home or at work The more you put into practicing mindfulness, the greater benefit you will receive.
Note that the course is not suitable for everybody and a short phone call will help decide if the course is for you. Regular home practice is an essential part of the course and it may not be appropriate during a current episode of depression or following a recent bereavement.
